The Steam Gigabotch, And The Future Of The Game, 18-12-2024

So I fucked up, and Aristocrats is now permanently disallowed from sale on Steam, meaning Itch is the only place to buy it (for now). The reason is because the manual reviewer interpreted Elliot and Emil as minors. I would like to stress that this is not the case, they are both written as (admittedly bratty, in Elliot's case) adults, and in fact them being adults and thus elligable for revieving the bulk of Georges inheritence is part of the central crux of the plot. I do not agree with the reviewers stance, but I do not have any options to pursue with regards to steam. The response I got from them is , in effect, "no, and any future attempts to get this game on steam will be met with failure."

That said, I am committed to finishing this game. The plan, insofar as I ever have much of a plan, is to release a new day every six months starting in January, so the planned release date for episode 2 is June 2025. The same content is planned for episode 2 as ever, that being:

-10 new sex scenes

-A new minigame

-New areas in the house to explore

-More dialog, objects to interact with, and some minor changes and upgrades to existing content (new mini-scenes like Emil in the shower, things like that.)

Thank you all very much for your continued support!

Maybe its because they're "in school". Steam does specify that they take no chances with anything below university.

steam can suck it. tbh youve given enough outside and in game implications that there deny of your game is ludicrous. cant wait for the next update

Steam can be nice for visibility and easy for a lot of users but their requirements for NSFW games can be a little iffy, I think the best approach for hosting NSFW games on steam with animated/stylish/cartoony art style is having the steam version as SFW version and give patch outside.

Sadly this approach is a lot of work and a lot of players don’t like it as you can’t point to the patch in the steam forums and players can’t benefit from steam auto-update feature with outside patch.

I don’t know about other stores that might accept your game (except DLSITE, but they require censership), but I hope things work out for you.

yeah as nice as it'd be, steam is still pretty heavily in the "You must be this tall and traditionally masculine/have big enough tits to consent" style of NSFW 'allowance'. It is what it is sadly. I hope you're at least selling a decent amount on itch as it is.

Im so happy to hear the future this game has! Sorry to hear about about the steam misunderstanding. ):

They think height is a measurement of consent no wonder they rejected it. I don't think Steam was the right place to begin with given how strict they are with stuff like that. Unless it is furry related for some reason... Either way. I think you can sell the game somewhere like Ko-Fi if memory serves right. They have a shop feature where you can sell your products.

As far as I'm aware Ko-Fi is generally against NSFW stuff being hosted on-site, so that might be a non-starter. I'll look in to other places, though!

Fair enough. I know about it being an option because of an artist I follow has published their game on there along with some bonus stuff. Spicydoesart I think that's their handle over on twitter. But yeah... I can't think of any other platforms outside of Itch that would permit this outside of the game itself being behind a paywall on your website or whatever. Especially since I think this year a lot of platforms across the web have been cracking down on NSFW games and art in general. Best of luck to you, I hope to give the game a proper go soon. Merry Christmas.

The game crashes every time I try to play it past the disclaimer screen, so can you maybe fix that?

(+1)

Is it giving a particular error when this happens? Or is it just hard crashing with no warning. As far as I'm aware, no one else is having that issue.

Hard crashing without warning, no specific error warning

If you go into the C:\Users\[your username here]\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\ there should be a folder for Aristocrats with logs in there, so it could maybe point to the cause.

The only thing I could think of is that some file or another might be corrupted. Delete your save files (you should be able to search ".save" in whatever directory the game is in), redownload the game and try again maybe?

settings.save?
